JONATHAN MILLER FOR LAWRENCE COUNTY COMMON PLEAS JUDGE
Experience that Counts.
WHY I AM RUNNING
Dear Friends and Residents of Lawrence County:
I am proud to announce my candidacy for Judge of the Court of Common Pleas of Lawrence County. In what is a first in the history of Lawrence County, there will be three open judicial offices up for election in 2025. With the retirement of three veteran and highly-respected Judges from the Courts this year, it is more important than ever that qualified, experienced, and fair individuals who exhibit the qualities necessary for Judge be elected, to ensure that the Lawrence County court system continues to perform its constitutional duties to the citizens of Lawrence County in an equitable, just, and efficient manner.
With my diverse background in the practice of law, proven track-record as a prosecutor seeking justice for victims, extensive courtroom and trial experience, and dedication to the principles of fairness, justice, and hard work, I am uniquely qualified to serve as Common Pleas Judge for the people of Lawrence County.
As a resident of Lawrence County, I am passionate about improving the community where I have raised my children and dedicated the last fourteen years of my career to public service. In my 20+ years as a licensed attorney in Pennsylvania, I have garnered a wealth of experience in many different areas of law: As a corporate and civil litigator in state and federal courts; as a private practioner providing counsel and representation to individuals, families and local businesses in Lawrence County; as an Assistant District Attorney for Lawrence County, specializing in the prosecution of child abuse and sexual crimes; as a trial attorney with significant courtroom and jury trial experience; and as a municipal solicitor for the City of New Castle, helping the City emerge from difficult times under Act 47 status.
If elected Judge, I pledge to bring the same sense of hard work, fairness, justice, and experience to the Judicial Bench on a daily basis.
I encourage you to explore my campaign site to learn more about me, my background, and visit us on Facebook and Instagram for ongoing campaign news and information!
Over the next several months, I look forward to meeting as many residents of Lawrence County as possible. With your support and your vote, we can make this campaign a success! Thank you.
FAIRNESS, JUSTICE, AND EFFICIENCY IN THE COURTROOM
As a Common Pleas Judge, I will implement practices to promote fairness, justice, and efficiency in the Courtroom, including the following:
- Enhance the efficiency of the Court by employing good case management practices, including case management orders on civil, family, and major felony criminal matters, so that cases move through the Court in a timely manner.
- Ensure that all parties appearing in Court, whether they be civil litigants, family court, criminal defendants, or victims of crime, are treated with respect, provided with due process, and walk into a fair and balanced courtroom.
- Offer opportunities to individuals who are facing lower-grade criminal charges as a result of substance abuse or mental health issues to have voluntary, early access to drug treatment, mental health, vocational, and other social service programs, prior to disposition of their cases, while at the same time respecting and upholding their due process and constitutional rights.
- Making sure that victims of violent and other crimes have their voices heard in Court as set forth in the Pennsylvania Crime Victims Bill of Rights, and that justice for victims is fairly and appropriately dispensed when a conviction occurs.
